Customer Success Story
Gerhard Müller (Germany)
The Challenge: Gerhard’s manufacturing company had a disaster recovery plan on paper but had never tested it. When an internal audit prompted a practice recovery exercise, they discovered the plan was out of date, several backup jobs had been silently failing for months, and the recovery time estimate in the plan was wildly optimistic for the actual volume of data they now held.
The vorza360 Solution: We designed and implemented a comprehensive DRaaS solution using Zerto for continuous data replication, established realistic recovery time and recovery point objectives based on the actual application estate, and, critically, implemented a recovery testing programme that validated the plan every quarter in a way that didn’t interrupt production operations.
The Result: Gerhard’s next audit produced an entirely different result. The recovery plan was current, the backup jobs were monitored and verified, and the tested recovery times matched the objectives the business had agreed. His operations director described the feeling of having a disaster recovery plan they actually trusted as something they hadn’t experienced before.
Fatima Al-Zahrawi (Jordan)
The Challenge: Fatima’s hospital information system had a business continuity requirement stating that patient record systems had to be recovered within two hours of any failure. Her existing disaster recovery approach, manual backup restoration from tapes, had been estimated by her IT team to take twelve to eighteen hours in a realistic scenario. The gap between requirement and reality was significant and known.
The vorza360 Solution: We replaced the tape-based approach with a DRaaS solution built on Azure Site Recovery, with continuous replication of all patient record systems to a standby cloud environment. We tuned the configuration to achieve a tested two-hour recovery capability, ran a live recovery test to verify it, and produced the documentation demonstrating that the business continuity requirement was now actually met.
The Result: Fatima’s hospital had a disaster recovery capability that matched its stated requirement for the first time. The live recovery test produced a verified recovery time that satisfied the compliance requirement. Her clinical governance team, who had been aware of the gap for some time, signed off the compliance finding as resolved.
Roberto Esposito (Italy)
The Challenge: Roberto’s e-commerce company operated a platform where even a two-hour outage during peak season could cost more than the entire annual IT budget. He had business continuity insurance that required documented disaster recovery procedures and regular testing, but also a genuine operational need for a solution that could actually protect his revenue during a failure.
The vorza360 Solution: We designed a high-availability DRaaS architecture with a recovery point objective of fifteen minutes and a recovery time objective of one hour, implemented continuous replication to a standby environment in a separate cloud region, and established automated failover testing that ran monthly without any manual intervention. We also produced the documentation package his insurance required.
The Result: Roberto’s insurance documentation requirement was met, but more importantly he had a genuine recovery capability for the first time. When a database issue caused a primary region degradation during a promotional sale period, the failover completed successfully within the agreed recovery time and the sale continued without customer-facing disruption. He told us it was the best possible demonstration of what a disaster recovery investment actually meant in practice.
Akinwale Fadahunsi (Nigeria)
The Challenge: Akinwale’s fintech startup had been growing rapidly when a ransomware attack encrypted their primary database and file storage. They had no disaster recovery plan, backups that were also encrypted by the same attack, and no clear path to recovery. The incident cost them two weeks of operations and significant customer trust. He engaged us to make sure it couldn’t happen again.
The vorza360 Solution: We implemented a DRaaS architecture with immutable backup storage that ransomware couldn’t encrypt, continuous replication to an isolated recovery environment, and automated recovery testing. We also implemented backup isolation policies that ensured the backup environment couldn’t be reached from the production environment, the attack vector that had compromised their previous backups.
The Result: When a separate malware incident occurred eighteen months later, the DRaaS environment was unaffected. Recovery was completed in under three hours from an uncompromised backup, and operations resumed the same day. Akinwale told us that the second incident, which would have been catastrophic before the DRaaS implementation, barely made it into his board update.
Svetlana Ivanova (Russia)
The Challenge: Svetlana’s legal firm had been told by their professional indemnity insurer that their disaster recovery arrangements were inadequate and that their policy renewal would be conditional on demonstrating a documented, tested recovery capability. She had a deadline to meet and a starting point of essentially nothing.
The vorza360 Solution: We designed and implemented a DRaaS solution within the insurer’s deadline: cloud replication of all critical systems, documented recovery procedures with defined RTOs and RPOs, and a live recovery test that produced the evidence her insurer required. We also produced the ongoing testing schedule required to maintain compliance in subsequent years.
The Result: Svetlana’s policy renewed on time. The insurer reviewed the documentation and test results and raised no objections. Beyond the insurance requirement, her firm now had a genuine recovery capability rather than a paper plan, which her partners described as long overdue given the sensitivity of the client data they held.
Dong-hyun Park (South Korea)
The Challenge: Dong-hyun’s financial technology company had a disaster recovery solution that had been implemented three years earlier and never reviewed. In that time, the application estate had changed significantly, recovery procedures had drifted from the actual configuration, and key staff who had knowledge of the plan had left. He needed the DR programme rebuilt from the current reality rather than the state it had been in three years ago.
The vorza360 Solution: We performed a current-state assessment of the entire application estate, re-mapped every system to its dependencies, and redesigned the recovery architecture to match what the company actually ran today. We updated all recovery runbooks to reflect current configurations, redeployed and verified all replication jobs, and tested the recovery end-to-end against the updated documentation.
The Result: Dong-hyun had a disaster recovery programme that matched his actual environment for the first time in years. The recovery test confirmed that the updated runbooks worked against the current configuration, the previous year’s test, had it been run, would have failed for multiple reasons. His risk committee closed the disaster recovery deficiency finding that had been open for two years.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers. Find everything you need to know about using our platform, plans, and features
What is DRaaS and how does vorza360 implement it?
Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) is a cloud-based service that replicates your critical systems and data to a secondary location so they can be restored quickly after a disaster, hardware failure, cyberattack, natural disaster, or human error. vorza360 implements DRaaS through five phases: DR Strategy & Planning (defining your Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives), Setup & Replication (deploying continuous data replication to the cloud recovery site), Managed Testing (regularly validating that recovery works within your RTO/RPO targets), Failover & Failback Management (managing the actual recovery process during and after a disaster), and Ongoing Optimization & Support (keeping the DR solution current and cost-effective). Tools used include Zerto, Azure Site Recovery, VMware SRM, and Veeam.
What is the difference between RTO and RPO, and how does vorza360 help define them?
Recovery Time Objective (RTO) is the maximum time your business can tolerate being offline after a disaster, if your RTO is 2 hours, your systems must be back online within 2 hours of a failure. Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is the maximum amount of data loss acceptable, measured in time, an RPO of 15 minutes means you can lose no more than the last 15 minutes of data. vorza360 works with your leadership team to define both metrics based on the financial impact of downtime, regulatory requirements, customer SLA obligations, and cost tolerance. Higher protection (lower RTO/RPO) requires more infrastructure investment, and vorza360 models the cost-benefit tradeoff clearly so you make an informed decision.
How does vorza360 test disaster recovery plans without disrupting production?
vorza360 conducts non-disruptive Disaster Simulation & Testing on a scheduled basis (typically quarterly) using isolated cloud environments that mirror your production setup. During a test, we simulate a failure scenario, triggering failover to the recovery environment, and measure actual recovery time against your RTO target and data recency against your RPO target. The production environment remains fully operational throughout the test; users experience no disruption. After each test, vorza360 provides a detailed report confirming whether targets were met, documenting what was tested, and identifying any gaps that require remediation. Regular testing is the only way to have genuine confidence that your DR plan will work when you actually need it.
What happens when an actual disaster occurs, what does vorza360 do?
When a disaster is declared, vorza360 executes the Failover & Failback Management process: our 24/7 on-call team is alerted immediately, the automated failover to the cloud recovery site is triggered (or executed manually for declarative failovers), and we confirm that the recovery environment is operational and performing correctly. We communicate status updates to your designated contacts throughout the event, provide expert support during the recovery period, and document all actions taken for post-incident review. Once the primary site is restored and verified, we manage the Failback process, safely returning workloads from the recovery site to the primary environment with data synchronization, ensuring a clean, controlled transition back to normal operations.
How affordable is DRaaS from vorza360 compared to building a secondary data center?
Traditional disaster recovery required maintaining a full secondary data center with duplicate hardware, power, cooling, connectivity, and staffing, a significant capital investment running into hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for mid-sized organizations. DRaaS via cloud eliminates this entirely: the recovery environment exists as cloud resources that consume minimal cost when idle (paying only for storage and a small amount of compute for replication), with full compute capacity provisioned automatically only when a failover is triggered. vorza360’s DRaaS pricing is based on the volume of data protected and the recovery SLA tier, making enterprise-grade disaster recovery accessible and affordable for businesses of any size, typically at a fraction of the cost of a traditional secondary site.
